Data-sets at Fermilab

Currently, data from both the HCAL and EMU systems are transfered to Fermilab automatically. These data correspond to test runs, calibration runs, cosmic runs, etc. Older HCAL Testbeam data is also available at Fermilab.

HCAL

Transfer method

Data taken with data-taking computers cmsmoe1, cmsmoe2, cmsmoe3, cmsmoe5 and cmsmoe6 gets transferred at the end of each run to a big "spool" disk on cmshcal01. From there, it gets shipped to Fermilab automatically.

Location of data at Fermilab

At Fermilab, the data are currently stored on the resilient area of the dCache system. The exact location is:
/pnfs/cms/WAX/resilient/cmshcal/cosmic05/
with subdirectories corresponding to the data-taking machines cmsmoe...

In addition, data are stored permanently in Enstore, the location for that is:
/pnfs/cms/WAX/7/cmshcal/cosmic05/
Actually, this is where the data get copied to from CERN, the data in the resilient area are a copy of these data.

Current lists of files are available for each DAQ machine separately:

These pages include links to the runsDB and the logbook. Note that the number of files is very long. The lists are updated automatically twice per day.

Listings of runs with some more information are also available:

These lists are created from the information contained in the HCAL runs database, combined with the list of files that were transfered to Fermilab. For runs where Source Data is available, this has been added.

In the future, lists ordered by Source Data info, filename or just runnumber could be made. Note that runnumbers are not unique. That means that for some runs, you will find multiple filenames listed. Also, these lists are updated automatically, twice per day.

Sources of information

Details on HB+ wiresource runs can be found here. This file was copied manually from cmsmoe3.
The HCAL Run database is another source of run information.

More in general, the SX5 HCAL webpage has links to logbooks, Quality Control information, etc.

HCAL Testbeam Data 2003, 2004

Data from testbeam runs in 2003 and 2004 can be found in dCache. The exact locations are:
For 2003 data: /pnfs/cms/WAX/5/HTB_2003/DATA/
For 2004 data: /pnfs/cms/WAX/5/pnfs/fnal.gov/TB04/

Current lists of files are available for each year separately:

These pages include links to the runsDB and the logbook. Note that the number of files is very long. The lists are updated automatically twice per day.

Listings of runs with some more information are also available:

These lists are created from the information contained in the HCAL runs database, combined with the list of files that were transfered to Fermilab.

See also this page for more information.

MUON

Transfer method

There is one DAQ computer, data are transferred directly to resilient area of the dCache and copied to Enstore.

Location of data at Fermilab

The resilient area in dCache with the muon data is:
/pnfs/cms/WAX/resilient/cmsmuon/emu_slice_test/
Copies of these data in Enstore are here:
/pnfs/cms/WAX/2/emu_slice_test/

Sources of information

The EMU run database can be found here. This is simply a list of runs. Click on a run number and you will get conditions for this run in the logbook.

The EMU slice test web site can be found here.
