DPE Meeting Minutes
The minutes of DPE meetings will be archived here. Coordinates info:
- Meetings generally take place every second Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Fermilab, WH9X Conference Room.
- ECS phone number: 1-510-665-5437, Meeting ID: 3923, and phones open at 2:45 PM on the meeting day (or 15 minutes before meeting time.)
- VRVS meeting room changes from meeting to meeting, but will have the title "DPE Meeting" and generally opens at 2:30 PM on the meeting day (or 30 minutes before meeting time.)
The standing password is "tralfaz."

DPE Release Management Guideline
The purpose of the page is to establish and announce
information about USCMS grid, particularly, various versions of the Distributed
Production Environment (DPE) software on various sites. An overview of the
software lifecycle process underlying DPE is available
here. A
graphical view of the role of DPE in the context of the USCMSSC project is
available here.
Check here for
presentations and SC2002 demonstrations on DPE. To maintain consistencies of
the grid deployment, various versions of DPE software will be installed on DGT,
IGT and PG. Deployment of various versions of DPE will be posted below.
The DPE environment, distributed over the USCMSSC computing
grid, consists of the following major software packages:
- CMS application: software packages to conduct physics
simulation and production. Details of CMS applications, ORCA, COBRA and others
can be found at http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cmsoo/cmsoo.html.

- Job management : software packages used for job creation,
submission, and general purpose handling. Currently, it includes two software
packages, MCRunJob and MOP. More information available from
http://ppdg.net
- Grid middleware: software packages, for example VDT, to
manage grid tasks. This category includes software for grid workload
management, grid data management, and grid monitoring Services. More
information available from http://www.ivdgl.org
- Fabric and mass storage management: various software
packages to manage farms and batch systems and data storage. Install fbsng from
http://www-isd.fnal.gov/fbsng/and fbsng-pbs
from http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/
- Virtual organization software: various software packages
related to grid authorization and authentication. Install groupman from
http://groupman.sourceforge.net/index.php
DPE Promotion Criteria
To install a DPE version on IGT, and eventually onn PG,
following promotion criteria must be followed:
- All components of a DPE version must be tested on DGT by
the the DGT coordinator
- IGT coordinator must approve the installation of the DPE
on IGT by updating the DPE version description on this web page and announcing
the the approval
- All IGT site managers must install the DPE version as
prescribed in this webpage.
